Told you so. Also try to avoid pink, you'll look like a candyfloss machine went on your head.

I blame the Holmes colouring. I remember going through my punk phase and being very cross about only being able to go black, otherwise I looked silly.

Are you going for all-out blue or just a sheen of color? With your dark hair, you'll probably need a professional with pro-grade supplies to get any real color.

He'd have to strip it to start with to get it really blue. That isn't the greatest thing to try at home - you can burn your scalp (and your hair off).

You have to be very careful with blue and blue-violet dyes, mainly because they won't last long and when they start to fade, they turn sort of a sickly blue-grey. Red-purple tends to last a bit longer, though (I think).

I agree with the comment on avoiding pink, even though pink dye looks fabulous and lasts for ages.

I have a good friend who's done hers a kind of anime-heroine-like turquoise for years and years. It's at least a yard long. She's a geneticist, now that I think of it.
